Blog #3

I don't believe that we are any safer now than we were in 2001, if anything, i feel that we have more threats now from not only the Middle East but other countries as well. Due to increased paranoia of U.S. citizens and our less than ideal economic situation, we seem to be even less protected than we were seven years ago. I don't think that watching nine innings from ground zero really taught me much about September 11th, but it did refresh a lot of memories about the day as well as the circumstances and the reaction to the events of people around me.

1. I observe a climate that seems to be mostly desert with no man-made structures anywhere nearby.
2. The lack of foliage or a water supply leads me to the conclusion that this area has a desert climate.
3. 18.6 miles, 35 minutes
4. This area seems to be a very green (grassy) and surrounded by some very developed neighborhoods although farther out, the land seems to once again become desert.
5. This location was clearly developed by humans to have more vegetation than its surroundings.
6. This area is in what looks almost like a gated community (identical houses in identical rows) which could mean that it's a golf course or something along those lines.

Introduction

My name is Camille Zimmerman and I have traveled extensively in New England (including Massachusetts; New Hampshire; Connecticut; Pennsylvania; and Maine), Nevada, New York, and Florida. I've spent some time in Europe, as I have visited London, England; Paris and Versailles, France. I had an interesting upbringing geographically because I was born in Miami, Florida (a strange place to begin with) and then promptly moved to Boone (which is often a place of opposites with the combination of ASU and the southern bible belt) where I was raised by my two divorced parents who both came from upstate New York (my mother is actually a first-generation American as her family immigrated from Sicily in 1947). I originally joined AP Human Geography because I have always had an interest in both history and culture. I hope that in this class i will gain a better understanding of all cultures and environments.
